THE LOCATION
Carvoeiro
Carvoeiro is a very pretty fishing village just a 10 minute walk from the villa, 45 minute drive from Faro Airport and 3 hours south of Lisbon. Don't forget that with all airlines you can fly into one airport and fly out from another! Although Carvoeiro is a popular family resort it has still retained the character and tradition of Portuguese life.
Beaches
The Algarve is famous for its sandy beaches and Carvoeiro has many to choose from. With its easy access Carvoeiro beach is an ideal spot to relax in the sun and as the town square has been built behind it, the local restaurants and bars are close by for a long leisurely lunch. Other beaches such as Centianes, with its restaurant O Stop overlooking the beach, and Vale do Covo are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. Weather
The climate in this region of the Algarve is very warm and reliable through the summer months and even in July and August there is a cooling breeze coming in off of the sea. The winter months of November to February tend to be mild and pleasant and the spring months of March, April and May are glorious with the scent of mimosa and almond blossom filling the air.

Restaurants - Bars - Nightlife
There are many bars and restaurants which offer all types of cuisine from Italian, Indian, Chinese and of course Portuguese. You can enjoy an excellent meal of freshly caught fish and sample the famous inexpensive Portuguese wines. There is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
The attractive Monte Carvoeiro Piazza often has evening entertainment including Fado and local folk dancing.
The village is lively in the evenings but not too wild and you can either walk back to the villa or take a taxi from the licensed rank in the centre of the village. For those looking for later nightlife there is plenty to offer such as "The Bote" night club on Carvoeiro beach, "Mungos" late night disco bar, "The Roundup Saloon" karaoke bar or one of Carvoeiro's oldest bars "The Jailhouse" for live music into the early hours. "The Jailhouse" was popular in the 1960's wth music legends such as Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Cat Stevens, Ronnie Scott, Donovan, Lulu and Cliff Richard.
Shops and amenities
The market sells locally caught fish, meats, fruit and vegetables. There is a good Baker and Butchers in the village and the mini-mercados stock most other items you might need.
There are 2 English speaking Doctors, a Clinic, 2 Chemists and a Dentist in the village.
The larger town of Portimao is a 15 minute drive away and has a dedicated shopping area with designer outlets and a good choice of restaurants.

Places of Interest and Activities
The waters around Carvoeiro's rock formations are ideal for snorkelling or scuba diving and there are many more water based activities on offer from jet and water skiing to the Water parks.
There are 3 Golf Clubs and a Tennis Club in Carvoeiro. Cycle hire, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can also be found locally.
